Temuan awal Lembaga Vulkanologi dan Geofisika Italia atau Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanolog (INGV) menunjukkan bahwa gempa bermagnitude 9 yang terjadi di Jepang, Jumat (11/3/2011), mengakibatkan pergerseran sumbu Bumi sekitar 25 sentimeter.
